This policy explains what information Buggsy (“we,” “us”) collects through diybuggsy.com and the Buggsy mobile app, how we use it, and who we share it with.
1. Information we collect
- Account information:email address and password (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase — we never see or store your raw password), and whether you signed up as a homeowner (DIY) or pest-pro account.
- Find-a-pro & email-list requests: name, phone number, email, zip code/city, pest type, severity, and any details you type in, submitted through the find-a-pro form or the homepage email signup.
- Payment information: the DIY and Pro plans are currently free to use and no payment is being collected. When paid plans are reintroduced, subscription payments will be processed by Stripe; we would receive your subscription status and a Stripe customer reference, never your full card number.
- Photos you upload:for bug identification, sent to our identification providers (Kindwise and Anthropic) to generate a result. If you're logged in and we successfully identify the pest, the photo is saved to your own account (a private storage bucket only you can access) so it shows up on your Dashboard under “Your Pests.” If you're not logged in, the photo isn't saved anywhere beyond what's needed to process that one request.
- Push notification tokens (mobile app only): if you enable notifications, we store a device token used to send you treatment-reminder and reapply notifications through your account.
- Usage data:standard technical data like pages visited, browser/device type, and approximate location from IP address, collected through normal server logs and any analytics tools we enable (e.g. Google Analytics or social ad-platform pixels). We do not collect precise device location — the find-a-pro form's zip code is text you type in, not GPS data.
2. How we use it
- To provide the Service: bug ID, your dashboard/schedule tracking, and account access.
- To manage your account, and to process subscription payments if and when paid plans are reintroduced.
- To send treatment/reapply reminders through the app, if you've enabled notifications.
- To route find-a-pro requests: we share the contact and pest details you submit with the local pest control company (or companies) we match you with, so they can reach out about your request.
- To send you service emails (confirmations, reminders) and, if you opt in, seasonal pest alerts and other marketing emails — you can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
- To maintain and improve the Service, including security and fraud prevention.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Who we share information with
We don't sell your personal information. We share it with:
- Local pest control companiesyou're matched with through find-a-pro (contact + pest details only, only for leads you submit).
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider.
- Stripe — our payment processor, not currently active since paid plans are off (see above).
- Kindwise and Anthropic — process photos you submit for bug identification.
- Resend — sends transactional and, if enabled, marketing emails on our behalf.
- Expo — delivers push notifications to the mobile app, if you've enabled them.
- Vercel — hosts the Service.
- Amazon Associates— when you click a product link, Amazon may track that click for affiliate-commission purposes; we don't send Amazon your personal information directly.
- Law enforcement or other parties, if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
4. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your session. We may also use analytics cookies (e.g. Google Analytics) and, on social-driven traffic, ad-platform pixels (e.g. Meta, TikTok) to understand how visitors find and use the Service. You can block cookies in your browser, though some parts of the Service (like staying logged in) won't work without them.
5. Data retention
We keep account and subscription data for as long as your account is active, and find-a-pro lead data for as long as needed to route your request and for our own business records. You can ask us to delete your data as described below, subject to what we're required to keep for legal, tax, or accounting reasons.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to stop sending you marketing email, by emailing legal@diybuggsy.com. If you live in a state or country with specific privacy laws (like California's CCPA or the EU/UK's GDPR), you may have additional rights under those laws; we'll honor valid requests to the extent they apply to us.
7. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for users 18 and older and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including row-level access controls on our database and encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all traffic to the Service. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the “last updated” date above will reflect the most recent change.
