- Find and discard the source — check every package of dry goods, since these moths are almost always introduced through already-infested food.
- Deep clean the shelving and cabinets where the infested item was stored, including cracks and corners.
- Set out pheromone traps (no more than two per home) to catch males and monitor how much of a problem remains.
- Apply a crack-and-crevice spray to shelf joints and cabinet voids, and let it dry fully before restocking.
- From now on, store dry goods in airtight containers rather than their original packaging — this is what actually prevents it from coming back.
Wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, closed-toe shoes with socks, chemical-resistant gloves, and goggles. Add a respirator if the label calls for it or ventilation is poor.
