- Walk the property and dump any standing water — clogged gutters, plant saucers, old tires, bird baths. This is the single most effective step.
- Treat water you can't remove (ponds, rain barrels) with a larvicide or mosquito dunk.
- Apply a residual barrier spray to shaded vegetation, under decks, and other resting surfaces around the yard's perimeter.
- For larger properties, a misting system can help with ongoing control.
- Reapply the barrier treatment every 3-4 weeks through mosquito season.
Wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, closed-toe shoes with socks, chemical-resistant gloves, and goggles. Add a respirator if the label calls for it or ventilation is poor.
